Hello there,
Some weeks are ordinary and slip by in mundane lists of things to do. This is not a bad thing, and keeping my eyes out for the small and wonder-filled gives meaning to the mundane. Here are few simple yet life affirming things from my week. May you find many more in your week ahead.
1. At sunrise, the blue sky paints herself with gold colors and joyfully dances to the music of a morning breeze.
~ Debasish Mridha
I've been writing each morning and it is just the right time of year that I am greeted by the sun coming over the trees. As stumble to my desk, groggy and bedheaded, and this outer view helps clear my inner one.
2. Speaking of writing, if you want the most gentle support for building or maintaining a writing practice, I can't recommend highly enough the London Writer's Salon and their Writer's Hour. Thanks to my friend Melanie for encouraging me to check it out.
Started in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic, a group of writers in London got on Zoom to write for an hour, separate but together. They invited friends who invited friends, and now it is a world wide event happening four times daily. This has been a game changer for me and my writing. It has a kind of magic in its simplicity. One hour of focused writing time with others spread across the world.
Any kind of writing or writer is welcome. Really. Emails, novels, work projects, journaling, poetry... In fact I'm writing this to you now during the Writer's Hour. I do the 8am Pacific time each weekday. Come join me. Please let me know if you do.
3. Speaking of writing again, there is such a thing as a literature clock! Get the current time through a quote from a book with that time in it. Click, click!! Thanks to my friend Nik for telling me about it.
4. @fitdadceo on Instagram. Master of the dad joke and he never fails to bring a smile, and often a groan.
5. Finally, but most wonderfully, @showmenoodz, also on Instagram. Noodle could have been included in last week's oracle
extravaganza my friend Heather reminded me. To which I replied, "How could I have missed that?" Little Noodle has an oracular vibe all his own. Want to know if it is going to be a "bones" or "no bones" day? Go warm your heart with this sweet 13 year old rescue pug.
Until next time,
Sandi
