Happy New Year!
What are your favorite ways to begin a new year? On one hand January 1 is a constructed marker, on the other a culturally significant turning of the linear and imaginal time wheel. We give things the meaning we do. Whether a big, sparkly, bubbly, sweeping Big Deal, just another day, or something in between, I hope 2022 holds many good and beautiful things for you.
Here are a few year beginning thoughts and things.
1.
You can get excited about the future. The past won’t mind.
2.
Gentle January. I am not one for big resolutions and dramatic change with the New Year. I admit to being tempted though. New Year, New You promises and all. But really, by the time January comes around all I want to do is rest and dream and feel my way into this deep winter time.
Any visioning I have done is seeding itself deep in my psyche so my only "job" is to pay attention to any quickening and give it space and nourishment to root and grow.
What ever your goals, find gentleness also. Whether your New Years is full of bold beginnings, just another day, or something in between, in its return to mundanity after the holidays January holds a deep, quiet kind of magic.

One thing I have been doing for a number of years now is choosing a Major Arcana card from the tarot for the year. I look at it as a companion, a contemplation, a touchstone, an archetype, to view my year through. There is nothing particularly magical about the Tarot, it is a deck of picture cards really, except I have built relationship to it. Because of this it is infused with magic and its imagery speaks to my psyche. Any meaningful
symbol or image holds magic and will reveal secrets if you give them time and attention.
What imagery or symbol is speaking to you these days? Pay attention and insight will come.

This word chooser by Morgan Harper Nichols. I know, I said I don't do special beginning of the year things, except the ones I do. This was fun and the word "practice" that come to me has a soul tickle
that tells me to pay attention.
What word shows up for you?

A little blessing for your week:
