It's been a week of obstacles thwarting plans, including some very unpleasant tummy stuff. Sometimes life bends you to its will. A reminder that plans are at best rough estimations.
I thought about skipping sending this little five things list. I mean it really has been a week and I'm still feeling a bit rough from being ill. But this morning the sun was shining and my desk was calling after days of missing me, and well, sometimes events push you around a bit and then end up delivering you right back to where you planed anyway. Maybe a bit banged up though.
So, onward. A few tiny things in the midst of it all...
1.
I am taking some of my own self-care advice and choosing rest and tending myself over pushing to get the to-list done. The important things find a way, and when they don't they were not the most important things.
2.
What is important will change, unexpectedly sometimes. Often in an instant. Our job is to recognize this and follow.
3.
Rest is a holy and vital thing. We all need so much more rest than I believe we allow or even imagine. My child self would never have imagined her future self would value rest and down time so, so much yet struggle so often to give it to herself.
4.
Ginger ale and soda crackers are magic. It is what my mom gave us when our tummies were upset. I wonder how much of the magic is in the things themselves, and how much is carried by the years of love and caring with which they were given by my mom and her mom before her. I suspect both. Especially since the ginger ale must be Canada Dry Ginger Ale and the crackers much be Saltines, other brands just are not the same. Carrying makes things
magic.
5.
A blessing for your week:
