five things friday: Lizzo, texture, tears

Hello there,

I hope everyone effected by Hurricane Ian is safe. Nature is not messing around! Things here on the opposite coast are seasonal and quiet on this last day of September, at least in my corner of it and I am very thankful for that.

I hope you enjoy my five tiny things for this week:

1.
Light and shadow, sun and moon, breathe in and breathe out.

2.
When history is allowed to meet the moment paradigms shift. Case in point: Lizzo at the Library of Congress playing James Madison's crystal flute.

3.
As my mom would say, I am in need of a good cry. While there is so much to cry about these days, this kind of cry in which I am in need of is a cleansing one. The kind that clears away the cobwebs of sticky, flighty half thoughts and stale ideas of what should be. The kind that refreshes the soul like a good rain renews the drought parched earth.They are coming, these tears, these sacred waters. The lump is in my throat, the flutter in my chest, waiting.

Do you also experience this? Tears waiting in the wings for the right moment to release their healing? Tears seemingly for no reason other then to clear the way forward?

4.
I love knitted texture in morning light.

I finished the Ash Bark baby blanket. This will go to sweet mom-in-waiting so I've blocked it well and made sure the ends are woven in and secured. It is cotton so I took the extra step to stitch the ends down to make sure they don't worm their way out.

I wrote a bit over on Patreon about how I tend to leave loose ends behind me. Metaphorically and literally. I often don't weave in my ends when finishing a project. I tuck them just so, so they don't show. I deny myself this bit of completion. Unless it is for someone else. Then I do as much as I can to make sure I am handing over something finished and complete. It leaves me pondering the gap between the care I give to others and the care I give to myself.
