It's Friday. Here are five tiny things accompanied by little
thoughts with some magic to tie it together.
I hope you enjoy.
1. Sometimes you catch a moment and witness a tiny bit of magic.
2. Good news
can often come with grief. I have a long history with falling fences, a story for another time perhaps, but this week included another chapter of it.
The very good news is that our landlord and the business next
door are finally replacing the fence along the property. It was unstable 7 years ago when we moved in and has become more so over time, helped by a worker backing in to it some years ago. It has been held up by the grace of the trees and bushes our side, and some strong rope from their side.
The grief comes because the bushes and trees that have been holding the fence have now been taken down. It is barren and ugly and I have no confidence the landlords will replace the landscaping since they have not replaced any other plants or trees lost to disease and weather.
My husband and I are talking about some guerrilla gardening along our soon to be new fence. "Hmm, those flowers, no idea where those came from." The obstacle is how to hide the extra water consumption since it is included in our rent, but we have some low use ideas.
3. My Instagram is turning into a Stitchagram. I've been doing daily
stitching as part of a 100 day challenge and I am finding it so calming and satisfying. Perfection is set aside, the stitches be as wonky as can be, I am using the smallest of fabric scraps I can't seem to part, and dipping into my stash of embroidery threads that hales back to my teenage
years. Creative practice no matter how humble is a powerful thing.
4. We just passed over Imbolc here in the Northern Hemisphere, that halfway spot between
Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. The first blossoms are ready to burst on the tree outside my bedroom window. My mother's daffodils that now live with me are tall shoots of green. New life is showing itself.
My mom's garden angels live with me too.
Imbolc
represents the quickening, those first moments of new life beginning. While we are not all on the same seasonal timeline, you may still be noticing some stirrings, some itchy urges for things maybe unnamed and unknown. It can be exciting, it can be annoying. It may be subtle or wake you out of complacency.
Even if you are in deep winter stillness, literally or symbolically, the forces of life are still moving.
5.
A blessing for your week:

May your devotion make sacred what important to you.
Until next time, Sandi
