five things friday: color, window views, late Valentine's

Hello there,
Winter is giving way to Spring here in Sonoma County. The morning light is arriving
earlier. The air has a hint of softness to it even though we continue to get frost and freeze warnings. We still need to cover our more tender plants at night but the trees are blossoming and bulbs are sprouting, some even flowering.
Things are stirring,
thoughts are forming. Here are some.
Please enjoy.
1. What Spring looks like right now.
What is the view out of your window?
2. The most important thing to me these days is my creative practice.
For so many reasons. Creating has always made me feel better, understand better. Whether it is a knitting shawl, baking a loaf of bread, spilling my thoughts in a beat up composition book, noticing the subtle color story of the blossom petals against the concrete... Our creative energy is life.
Finding joy in my new Beam watercolors and used tea bags.
3. I know Valentine's Day has passed but I'll share a little poem I posted on Patreon anyway. Love extends beyond a day, yes?
Happy Grumpy Valentine's
In case you woke up this morning a little bothered a tiny or great bit annoyed tired of red and pink fancy heart boxes (but not enough to toss their contents)
In case you love extravagantly but not
in the form of cards prefer your flowers wild on the side of the road small conversations over weightless declarations that vanish as soon as spoken
In case this day is filled with lists of mundane
obligations that keep life growing with no lover's kiss or sweet child's drawings or any such things as Hallmark says means love
May this day give something no Valentine can reveal
Your gritty and tender life worthy of courage and devotion born not of candy and pretty gestures but of fierceness
For you
4. A single
hibiscus tea bag dropped in a large pitcher of water. A beautiful way to stay hydrated.
5.
A blessing for your week:
(from Woodland Wardens by Jessica Houx)
May upheaval and change lead to healing and renewal.
Until next time, Sandi
