five things friday: old faces, old stories, trivial medicine

Hello there,
Five things for this Friday. My wish, as always, is that they bring a little spark, maybe
some insight and reflection to your day.
Please enjoy.
1.
You use a glass mirror to see your face. You use works of art to see your soul. -George Bernard Shaw
2.
Justine Bateman on her aging face, "When you say, 'Is there beauty in aging?' aren't you really saying, 'Do you think it's possible for other people to find aging beautiful?'" she said on the
segment. "And like, I just don't give a s---.'"
Botox, fill, lift, peel if you want. Do none of it if you want. I really wish the shock of a female celebrity choosing not to did not warrant so much shock and
commentary.
I wonder what art we can find in our own aging faces (because not matter how young we are always ageing), and what this art reveals about our soul.
"...Answer Woman and Question Woman, sitting on a fence rail high atop Sonoma Mountain telling stories. Some people say they are a pair of crows; others claim they are two identical looking women with long, dark hair. In any event, they have been on the mountain a long time. They are Coyote’s daughters, after all. The Coast Miwok people
tell us that Coyote created the world and the first humans on top of Sonoma Mountain. They know that the mountain is a sacred place and that if you hear the twin sisters telling stories, you should listen."
No lie, two
crows are having quite the conversation as I write. I am listening.
It is silly and trivial and has no profound meaning and that is exactly why I keep coming back to it, picking it up, running my fingers over the stitches and shapes. It is medicine, a little homeopathic drop of frivolous joy that heals. Just because.
I am currently on Day 84, rounding the corner on completing the full 100 days. It is a project of no profound purpose, except it is in its humble consistency and surprise. You can see my daily progress over on Instagram.
What tiny bits of whimsy, what silly and trivial are your little homeopathic drops of healing?
5.
A blessing for your week:
