Hello there,
It has been a week of a lot of work. Here are some of the tiny thoughts and little pleasures that are building my big, ever evolving life.
Please enjoy.
1.
I will be 60 in 60 days. Sometimes a picture emphasizes my
grey. I'm not mad about it. I've been thinking of the kind of old woman I want to grow into. Silver hair with a bit of mystery and mischief will do just fine.
We get so many messages about growing old, most of them not so empowering. I get it, we change. Our bodies change in ways we don't like. Loss becomes more common. I am not bypassing the hard things and, there is something to be said about walking this earth with history in my
bones.
What about growing older do you look forward to?
2.
Bouquet
An old woman gathers her bouquet a flower here a leaf there
Each placed with the others shifting this
flower from here
for that leaf from there
and then back again
Admiring each composition
as she brushes whips of grey from her face before choosing
again
I imagine her collecting parts of herself
admiring
how lovely they fit together
even as she changes
perhaps
because she changes
A
bouquet of beauty reflected in a harvest of wildflowers.
3.
While I am growing my older wisdom I am grateful I have
younger wisdom in my life. My friend Odin teaches regularly. Like this lesson in abandoning oneself to the joys of pasta.
I wish for us all to have such enjoyment and permission with nourishment of all
kinds.
4.
Evening walks are back in rotation now that the days are longer. There is something settling about roaming the neighborhood as it transitions from the business of the day into the cool
dusk.
I've been visiting these wisteria, taking in their fragrance and the sound of the bees happily buzzing away.
The blossoms are fleeting. A reminder to slow down and smell the wisteria, not because it will be gone so soon but because it is here now.
5.
A blessing for your week:
