five things friday: rainbows, lost selves, descent

Hello there,
It's October! Pumpkin Spice and spooky times. Ancestor visits and trick or treats. The days are noticeably shorter and the light, oh the light, is golden and soft
and the morning air has the crispness that has me reaching for a shawl when I wake up.
I hope this new month is bring you little treasures and a welcoming entry into the new season. Here are few things October is bring me. How about you?
1.
Fall is doing its usual Northern California trickster move. We had some showers last week, rainbow included
and now we are in a heat wave of 90+ temperatures. But as mentioned above, the morning air has the unmistakable crispness that says cooler days are on their way.
2.
My own state of self and this time of year are a perfect match for shadow work. If I wasn't already feeling this, this sweet guy has appeared several times in my daily draws letting me know:
Shadow work is often hard and wrenching. Seeing the exiled parts of ourselves, the parts we don't recognize as us, don't want to be us, is not always easy. The treasures found are worth it though, even as the path can be hard. It helps to have a gentle invitation, a way in that offers softness and acceptance.
Sometimes the right help comes at the right time. You know I am not up for giving away our power to any one or any system and same is true of oracle tools. They are doorways into our world and life, not determiners of them.
As a doorway and guide I am really enjoying getting to know my new oracle deck Into the Lonely Woods by Lucy Canvendish. Not to discount her work but I am especially taken with the gentle invitation of the art work by Dan May.
(If shadow work is calling, and you want support of the human kind, I can offer a soft place while you bring home the parts of you that have been lost.)
3. Designers want me to dress like Spring, in billowing things. I don't feel like Spring. I feel like a warm red Autumn.
-Marilyn Monroe
4. I am sharing some seasonal writing over on Patreon. Think oracles and poems and reflections on the descent into the dark time of year.
Descent Calls
The descent calls offering rest that weary bones tired of fighting long for
A sanctuary from the busy obsessions of the world above where shadows dance with wishes yet born
Persephone returns to her throne and the underworld bows down knowing the barren spaces others fear so much are the only ones that will yield the never before...

May you find in the deepest dark the inner light that will guide you.
