I just launched a series on the blog and wanted you to know.
I am calling it "
being seen at 50" It was born out of a 3am insomnia last night, you can read all about here and I hope you follow along. It involves this picture of me over here on the right.
Basically I've been harboring a mean spirited inner ageist!
Now this particular shadow has been with me for a long time, with you too I'd bet. Its is hard to not internalize the very narrowly defined ideal of youth and beauty and its connection to female relevance in our culture.
Of course any amount of assault on the Feminine is unacceptable, but it has become crystal clear that the age related tone and harshness buzzing in the background of my inner conversation is recent, hurtful, and something I want to stop.
Now.
Granting this judgmental conversation space in my psyche, how ever faint it may seem and how ever much I don't "really" believe it, makes me invisible to myself. It becomes an infection that erodes the foundation of my sense of self, my power, and sacred connection and creativity.
It does the same to you when you also entertain the limits the culture sets for how you should be, look, and have.
This is mean and dangerous to the core of our inner truth.
Part
of how I am shifting this for myself and hopefully for those who follow along is though the "being seen at 50" project.
