The world has changed. Of course I don’t need to tell you this. I am in a deep state of trying to find myself in these new times. I am learning to extend myself a lot of grace for the times when I get tripped up and fall short, which is so very often. I know I am not the only one.
These last few months have added so much on top of the already overly full, overly stressful lives of everyone I know. Even those who are enjoying some time away from crowed offices and the down time of social isolation, these are times of unrest and unknown.
We will find normal again but it won't be what it was before. This part of the story is held in the chaos and flux of the unknown.
It all seems rather dire, doesn't it? It is true that we are facing big challenges, and at the same time adaptation, perseverance, and innovation are in our human nature. Pandemic, social and racial justice uprisings, political toxicity... What I know is in these times we need more empathy and more self-care, not less.
I say this a lot. We need more empathy and more self-care, not less. The more challenging the times the more this is true. And it is really, really true now!
If you haven’t done a self-care evaluation and adjustment recently I would highly, highly recommend it. Even if you have, what else can you add or take away that would nourish you more? What else would support you in being able to live in such a troubled world with an open and protected heart? Assume you need more, much more self-care than you think or than you believe you should need.
