five things friday: snarled thread, the empty room, change

Hello there,
Yesterday I worked on this
week's things and it was hard. No flow, every thought an effort, every thread a snarl. Yes, sometimes writing is that way and staying with the blocks and snarls are part of the process. And, sometimes it is not the writing that wants to happen. Sometimes a snarled thread needs to be cut and a new one begun. It can be hard to know though, when to stay and untangle the snarl and when to cut yourself free.
So you choose. This morning I chose to cut myself free from yesterday's struggles. There is relief and some anxiety of what will I write to you now that I have scraped an almost finished letter.
Let's see what it is, shall we?
1.
Reminder, it is ok to change. The rules, one's mind, the choice, the path.
Scrapping a newsletter to write a new one is not high on the risk factors of change, and yet it is sometimes the small gestures that frame the template for bigger actions.
2.
Pivots creates energy.
We've had one of the biggest pivots ever this past week as President Biden ended his re-election
campaign. Kamala Harris is now the (presumptive) nominee for the Democratic Party for president. This historic pivot has created a historic race, historic fund raising, historic mobilization.
Is the United States ready for a Black, South Asian woman president? Yes, if we elect her. So let's do that. I believe we can.
Living in historic times is not always easy, and it has been heartbreaking and infuriating for years now, but sometimes it is inspiring and invigorating.
Hope and growth are possible.
3.
Sometimes not knowing is the answer.
Each week, or near abouts, I pull an archetype card representing what wants to be integrated. In a way it is subtle, or sometimes not so subtle, shadow work. An invitation in include the gifts held in what been ignored or rejected, whether seen as "bad" or "good". My favorite deck for this recently is The
Wild Unknown Archetypes by Kim Krans.
This past I was invited into The Empty Room. The nothing space.
What must empty before potential can manifest?
What true possibilities and vision await us when we have the patience to sit in the unknowing? What distractions, addictions, hungry ghosts sit at the door of this room blocking the way in?
Creativity and vision require
not knowing, demand the ability to acclimate if not enjoy The Empty Room. Do I like it here? Not much. But, avoiding this room has cost me much more than the discomfort of surrendering into it. Actually, there is a lot of freedom here when I can.
4.
It is ok to get a little help to reach
what you want. Or just because.
I don't know when I decided that I needed to do everything on my own. I can't remember I time when I feel this way. It makes things hard and limits what is possible.
Here is my friend Odin being lifted up to see the passing train (the train being one
of his favorite things ever).
He has no problem asking for and accepting help so he can experience something that
brings him so much joy. I learn a lot from him.
Be like Odin. Ask for help. Let it bring you joy. Let it change you.
5.
A blessing for your
week:
